Your New Time Management Lifestyle
Time management is about taking charge of oneself. It is about accepting responsibility for our lives and what we choose to do with our time. Perhaps you have no problem acknowledging that you are, in fact, in control of your time, but in real life practice you may find that this is a bit more difficult to accept.
Every day life presents us with obstacles and issues that may conflict with our goals or with our schedules and it is easy to feel that you lack the control factor in all of this. But regardless of what happens to you that may affect your time management goals, you are always responsible.
At this point your goal is to overcome these daily obstacles with an attitude of a consultant. When you are faced with many choices of what decision to make, what path to turn to, or which way to handle a situation, pretend that you are a highly-paid consultant. I’m not talking about consulting other people, the key here is to be a consultant to yourself. When there is a decision to make that disrupts your daily schedule then ask yourself: ?What does Mike have to do next?? ?What would be the best use of his time, right now, within the current situation??
By referring to yourself in the third person, you will be able to derive different answers for those that would come from thinking to yourself ?What should I do next? How can I overcome this obstacle and still keep my time schedule intact?? Instead, by asking yourself in the third person, you will automatically visualize yourself mentoring another person, and the advice given will not be based on fear of what can go wrong, but rather from a neutral mindset.
Going back to time management and making the right choices, let’s quickly cover the subject of taking action once you have made your decision. Again, once you have hit a roadblock in your daily schedule, quickly assess the situation and visualize yourself as the consultant.
Then once you have come to the conclusion of what you need to to in order to rectify the problem, visualize then yourself quickly tending to the task at hand with vigor so that you can get back to your time schedule, and then do it! Take action immediately. Do not waste any thoughts wishing that you could be doing something else. Do not curse the fact that your daily planning is now off balance. Simply follow through with the issue and get back on track ASAP. Time management means to effectively handle surprise knocks in your daily schedule, not just handling the goals that you planned on paper the night before.
Do you want to know how to make the most out of your time? Are you searching for a way to get where you want to be in life faster than the speed you are currently going? The key to succeeding in these areas involves understanding and implementing time management strategies that high achievers use every day of their lives to make more money, increase time spent with family, and achieve all around happiness in life.
Regardless of your daily schedule, whether you work for someone else or yourself, your goal is to compete against yourself to see how much you can get done that contains the most value every day. Think of it as a personal game that you are playing. Each day when you set your personal deadlines and making the most of your schedule, work to race against those set time goals. Work faster, beat the clock, and accomplish your tasks earlier than expected.
Keep the mental vision of yourself as a super product individual in your mind at all times. To help keep this mental picture alive in your head you can use a technique that works for thousands of successful men and women all over the globe. And that technique is to remember a time when you were the most productive in your life. Remember how effective you were at handling those tasks at that time. Consider how efficient you were. You were doing all of the right things and at the right time and at record speed. In addition to accomplishing more, remember how good you felt about yourself and the confidence that properly managing your time did for you.
Now take a look a few years from now and imagine yourself as being the most productive and successful people in your career field. What would your day be like? What would you look like? How much work would you accomplish each day? What hours would you be working? These questions are to be written on paper to help you create a vision for yourself. Doing so and taking a look at your vision every day on paper will do more for your time management needs than anything else.
Once you have created a clear mental picture of the our future self, continue to visualize your ideal self as if you already had the time management traits that you desire to have today. Strive to act as if you had the urgency of the ?you-of-tomorrow? in everything that you are working for today. Remember that the person that you see in your vision can and will be the person that exists today, so long as you keep that vision regardless of the circumstances. ?So starting today, set the same goals, work with the same vigor, and feel as though you were making the most of your time as you are with your future-self and as you did in the past.
By making time management a lifelong study around forming productive habits each day, anyone can transform their lives from mediocre to supreme that will affect their lives in a very powerful way. To help get you started on your way to mastering time management, we are going to cover three very specific tips that will help you achieve all that is possible for you. You can learn all three of these disciplines through repetitive practice until they become a natural part of your everyday living.
1. Daily goals: The term ?goals? is used so often throughout every self development book and audio that you can find, and for good reason. You see, setting goals is the cornerstone to achieving everything you want in life, and this is especially true for building positive time management skills.
Every morning of the day you should take about fifteen minutes to write out your ten most important goals on paper. Be sure to write them in the present tense. When you make it a habit each day to write out your daily goals then you are programming your subconscious mind to accept these goals as attainable. Your mind will be stimulated and you will feel more alert. Amazingly, you will start to see more and more opportunities being attracted towards you.
2. Daily activity planning: The heart of time management, whether it is for your personal management or your work management, lies in the ability to effectively set priorities on all of the daily tasks that lay ahead. Each night before you go to bed is the perfect time to plan out the next day’s activities that you want to accomplish. Set each one with a priority level that matches the importance of when those tasks are to be finished. Start with the most important job first and work singlehandedly until that project is finished, then move to the next. Be sure to also set time limits within your daily plan. Have a deadline for each and every activity that is on your list, even if it is as small as 10 minute jobs.
3. Proper exercise and daily quality nutrition: What does exercise and diet have to do with effective time management? Good health has everything to do with getting more quality time out of your life while seeing your work through at a faster pace. You see, time management is a lifestyle, and if anything in life is to be obtained, then it can only be enjoyed by having your health. Your health is the most important quality in life that one can have. And by disciplining yourself to eat nutritious foods while maintaining a daily workout routine, you will promote the highest possible levels of health and wellbeing in your life for years to come.
Did you know that the average person wastes up to 70% of their free time by watching television? Are you one of those people? Chances are that if your goal is to make better use of your time for more important items in your life, then you may need to kick the television habit to the curb!
Below are 6 ways in which you can make better time management by controlling your TV habits:
1. Ignore the TV and choose to work on hobbies such as gardening, puzzles, reading, stamp collecting, etc.
2. Only permit yourself to watch two hours of programming on Saturday and Sunday for an entire month. You will be amazed at how much more focused you will be.
3. Instead of watching sports games on TV, why not attend them instead? Not only does this get you away from the television but it also can create more quality time between you and your friends and family.
4. Understand that you do not need to watch TV for your news and information. You have been programmed to do so since birth and with today’s online news reports you do not need to get drawn back into watching television just to see what is happening out there.
5. Make it a point to go an entire week at a time without ever turning on your television. So this at least once per month, or more if possible.
Do you have the desire to get more work done, faster, more efficient, and with less overall strain on your energy? Every man and women who has the desire to be high achievers in life have the very same goals as you do and it all starts with time management. There is one thing that you must know about what it takes to effectively manage your time, however, and that is that you will not succeed in making your life perfect in one shot. It does not work that way. Rather, time management is a lifestyle, a daily practice, a frame of mind.
There are hundreds of techniques that you can implement to get the ball rolling in your life when it comes to time management. One such technique is to develop and concentrate on the habits that will make you successful in the areas of working smarter, faster, and more efficient. Ask yourself this question: What are the habits and behavior patterns that you consider will help you get the most out of your day and increase your productivity?
Your goal is to concentrate your thoughts on creating the habits of focus, dedication, concentration, discipline, and positive results. These factors will become your personal motivators which will help you strive for high performance. And one best kept secret of time management is to learn to use the art of doing one task at at time, the very best that you can.
There is no greater threat to time management and loosing focus than handling too much at one time. Your projects and tasks end up being only partially complete and without the quality they deserve. Concentrate on doing only one single task at at time, all day long, until it is done. Practice this habit on a daily basis until it becomes etched within your personal work ethic.
What activities are best for you to practice to guarantee that you are working and performing your very best? Your answers should be written down as a checklist and reviewed on a regular basis. Make sure that you are always working on your most valuable task at any given moment and making the most of your time, each and every day.
There is no better take of action that will help you with mastering time management than forming daily habits of planning, setting up your priorities, and working on the greatest-value tasks first within your day. Developing these habits can only be achieved by practicing them repetitively until they are part of your lifestyle. Remember, time management is not something that you tend to when you feel the need, it is indeed a lifestyle that can take your entire career and personal life to new heights
Laugh Your Way to Good Health: The Many Health Benefits of Laughter
Remember when your parents used to load your plate up with veggies and not let you have any dessert until you finished every last bit? They just might have been onto something with all those dark green vegetables.
Take a look at Popeye and his spinach. He would down a can and practically lift a car. Impressive wasn’t it? Maybe the general idea isn’t so far fetched.
Five of the healthiest dark green vegetables include broccoli, kale, spinach, romaine lettuce and Swiss chard. These vegetables, identified by their dark green color, are rich in antioxidants and usually have large amounts of phytochemicals like Vitamin C.
If you’ve turned on the television in the past three years, antioxidants have been all over the news. They’ve been proven to help reduce the risk of cancer and strengthen the immune system.
Many foods tend to lose nutrients when cooked. The great thing about these dark green vegetables is that you can find them easily in your grocery store and they taste great with little or no cooking, leaving much of their nutrients intact.
Here is some important information about these healthy veggies:
Broccoli is a fun vegetable for kids because it feels like you’re eating a small tree. In fact, the little buds are actually tiny flourettes that contain more than twice the amount of Vitamin C of an orange.
Some facts about broccoli you may not already know include:
* Broccoli is a great source of fiber, both soluble and insoluble. It not only meets both types of fiber needs, but it’s also a rich source to add to your diet.
* Research has shown indole-3-carbinol - found in the phytonutrients of broccoli - actually deactivates a metabolite which can become cancerous.
* Broccoli also helps restore sun-damaged skin, reduces the risk of heart disease, and boosts the immune system. At the same time, it also promotes healthy bone growth due to its massive amounts of calcium.
Kale is a slightly bitter, leafy green with a huge amount of folic acid and potassium. Try some kale in your stir-fry. You may just find yourself thoroughly impressed.
* The folic acid found in kale is a great addition to your diet if you suffer from poor hair, skin and nails.?
* In addition, the potassium helps to promote the breakdown of lactic acid in muscles after a workout, and is a great food to help prevent muscle soreness in the recovery process.
Swiss chard is similar to spinach, with a little more of an earthy undertone. Rich in Vitamins C and K, as well as calcium, Swiss chard is a great addition to salads.
* Vitamin K helps promote healthy eye and brain function. The next time you have to spend hours staring at a computer screen or studying for that big exam, try some Swiss chard and let your mind be at ease knowing your brain is getting the nutrients it needs.
Spinach is a lean mean green antioxidant-packing machine, rich in flavor and in Vitamins A and C, and iron.?
* Spinach is loaded with important vitamins and minerals to promote healthy brain function as well as strong bones and muscles.?
* Next time you have a salad, try it with spinach instead of lettuce for a little variety and a big explosion of taste.
Lettuce may be the last thing that comes to mind when you picture dark green vegetables. While many of the lighter shades of lettuce, such as iceberg, have very little nutritional value, the darker the color, the more they have to hide.
Romaine lettuce, while still made up mostly of water, is packed with antioxidants and fiber.
The darker green the leaf, the more folic acid is present, which prevents heart disease.
Even though lettuce seems so simple, look at some of its complex attributes:
* Lettuce is great for diets since it’s very low in calories.?
* Magnesium, found in romaine lettuce, does wonders in revitalizing muscular tissues, the brain and the nerves.?
* The chlorophyll-packed juice in lettuce is very helpful in maintaining normal hair color.?
* Lettuce is high in iron, which helps the formation of red blood cells.?
* Lettuce may help in treating insomnia, acid indigestion, colitis, constipation, gout, stress and many other diseases as well.
While you might have been forced to eat your dark green veggies as a kid, now you know why it was so important. Even today, your dark greens are vital to your health and well-being. Try these dark greens in some new recipes; you just might surprise yourself and actually enjoy it!
Are you constantly feeling stressed? Stress is something we all encounter on a regular basis, but when it starts to have a negative effect on your body and mind, it means you are distressed.
What many people don’t know is that stress is a state of being that negatively impacts the body. In fact, stress has a bigger impact on our bodies than most of us realize or care to acknowledge.
Facts About Stress and Your Body
There are some downright scary facts about the toll that stress takes on the body. When you look at these facts it is hard to deny that we all need to learn how to manage our stress more effectively. Some of these facts include:
* 43% of all adults have health problems related to stress
* 75-90% of all doctor visits are stress-related
* 82% of workers are at least a little stressed in the workplace
* Stress is known to cost American businesses more than $300 billion each year
Seven Ways In Which Your Body is Affected By Stress
There are two kinds of stress. The “good” stress is called eustress but we generally only hear about the “bad” stress known as chronic stress or distress.
Chronic stress gradually affects your health at first; in fact, you may not even notice the symptoms at all! And if the stress is not managed, the symptoms will get worse and its effects may even be irreversible.
Seven ways in which stress may manifest itself in your body are:
1. Depression. When you are stressed out, it is very common for people to become depressed. There are only so many chemicals in the brain to help a person deal with stress, and when they are used up, they’re used up. This can lead to a person becoming profoundly depressed in what seems like a relatively short period of time.
2. Anxiety. Those who are stressed are likely to deal with uncontrollable levels of anxiety. Anxiety and depression often go hand in hand, and this can cause many different changes in the physiological functioning of the body.
3. Heart disease. Stress is very closely linked to heart attacks and death associated with cardiovascular disease. When stress is not managed, the body breaks down quickly and the heart is often profoundly impacted.
4. Diabetes. Type 2 diabetes is one of the fastest growing epidemics in the world and both mental and physical stress can cause rapid fluctuations in blood sugar levels. The long-term effects associated with this include heart disease, blindness, liver problems, kidney disease, and more.
5. Hair loss. We often tease our friends and family when they begin to lose hair, but this can be a symptom of unmanaged stress. If your hair is falling out prematurely don’t blame genetics, look closely at how you are dealing with the stress in your life and see if there are things you can do to control it more effectively.
6. Obesity. We often cope with stress by consuming unhealthy, fattening foods. Plus, stress prohibits the control of necessary chemicals that are needed to break down fat, which can lead to obesity.
7. Sexual dysfunction. Stress is one of the most common reasons associated with impotence in men.
As you can see, stress can affect your health in many ways. This is by no means an all-inclusive list of how stress affects your body and health. You may also suffer from hyperthyroidism, obsessive-compulsive disorder, tooth and gum disease, ulcers, and even cancer. Stress is serious stuff! This is all the more reason to start actively managing your stress today.
Are you struggling to keep your resolution to eat healthy, nutritious foods? Once you’ve set a goal to maintain healthy eating habits, how do you go about actually achieving that goal?
The good news is that once you do something consistently for only a few weeks, it becomes a habit.
Here are some simple techniques to help you avoid those tempting junk foods so you can make wise and healthy decisions in your daily routine.
Strategies to Avoid Temptation:
1. Am I hungry? Ask yourself if you’re really hungry or if you’re eating out of convenience or emotion. Many times you probably aren’t as hungry as you think, so try to get involved in a different activity instead of snacking.
2. Water, water, and more water. Drink a lot of water each day. Not only is this good for your whole body (both inside and out), it can actually make you feel full. Also, oftentimes when you think you’re hungry, your body is actually thirsty, so keep yourself well hydrated.
3. Try chewing gum. Putting something in your mouth like gum or hard, sugar-free candy can help convince your brain that you’re eating!
4. Divert your energy. Instead of putting all your energy into making two grilled cheese sandwiches with bacon, try taking a walk or doing something that requires you to use your hands, like knitting or woodworking. It’s pretty hard to do these and eat at the same time.
5. Allow yourself snack time. Choose healthy snacks instead of chips and salsa or chocolate bars. For snack time, try eating celery, popcorn without butter, fruits, or a make-your-own trail mix with raisins, nuts, and dried fruits.
* A good hint for snacking is to have healthy snacks readily available in your home, and unhealthy snacks completely out of the house; that way, the healthy stuff is easy to grab.
How to Choose Healthy Foods:
The next time you’re off to the grocery store, use these tips to help you choose the right foods and avoid the unhealthy stuff.
1. Stay away from preservatives. You don’t need that Twinkie that can outlast any environmental disaster! When you learn to read nutrition labels and ingredient lists, you’ll find that there are many snacks that are full of preservatives. You probably shouldn’t buy the food when the ingredient list contains more than a handful of items. Plus, if the expiry date isn’t until two years from now, it’s being heavily preserved.
2. Use the food pyramid. The recommended food pyramid from the Federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA) gears you toward whole foods and minimal sweets. Get a copy from the FDA and make your grocery list by following their guidelines.
3. Buy lots of fresh vegetables that you can use to make up a quick and healthy stir-fry with chicken, brown rice, or even soy products. Buy easy to make salads where the lettuce and other veggies are already washed. These are easy, quick, healthy, and they taste good. The key is to choose vegetables that are dark green or orange in color.
4. Buy fresh fruits and do some research on how to tell when fruits are at their freshest and when they’re in season. Try some of those exotic fruits you’ve always looked at but never purchased. Make your own fruit drinks and smoothies for a healthy, delicious treat.
More Great Grocery Store Tips:
1. Shop in a circle. Many nutritionists will tell you to shop the perimeter of the store. Grocery stores are usually set up with their fresh foods, fruits, vegetables, fish, and breads all around the perimeter. Preservative-laced foods are in the center and at the ends of each aisle.
2. Go alone. Leave your children in good hands and go alone to the grocery store. This way you can concentrate on getting only the healthy foods you desire without being pressured into buying junk. Alternatively, if you do bring your children, be prepared to spend extra time teaching them how to spot healthy foods.
3. Make a list! This technique is a tried and true method to avoid buying foods that aren’t healthy. Stick to your list and, for fun, seek out healthy foods you haven’t tried before to tempt your taste buds.
With some determination and strategies in place, you can achieve your goal to eat healthy! By incorporating healthy changes into your diet one by one, you’re slowly creating a new habit.
Before long, you’ll be choosing healthy foods without a second thought, and those unhealthy foods you used to eat will no longer tempt you. Once you discover the benefits and better taste of fresh and healthy foods, you’ll never want to go back!
When you’re trying to lose weight, you may think that you’ll never be able to have another snack. The truth is, however, there are many healthy snacks you can eat to lose weight and feel great.
For any weight loss plan to be successful, you can’t feel like you’re being deprived. This means you can eat healthy snacks that make your diet work better for you rather than hindering it.
In your switchover to healthy snacks, it’s best to start by having a clean slate. Set aside a day to clean out your refrigerator and pantry to remove all non-healthy foods. This will accomplish two things:
* You’ll remove anything that may be a temptation for you when you’re having a weak moment.?
* You’ll be able to make better choices, not only for yourself, but for the rest of your family as well.
What types of snacks can you eat that won’t derail your diet? You might be surprised at the variety of choices available:
1. Fresh fruits and vegetables. Your healthiest snacks are going to be those that are as close to nature as possible. This means keeping fresh fruits and vegetables on hand.
* Why not take advantage of buying those fruits that will provide you with the sweetness and the crunch you crave?
* Buy fruits that are in season so you won’t pay a premium price for them.
* Apples, grapes, oranges, and other fruits are important for a healthy diet whether you’re trying to lose weight or not. Avocadoes are another great choice.
2. Dried fruit can be a great snacking option for those trying to lose weight. Raisins, Craisins (dried cranberries), and other dried fruits will give you the feeling of eating something forbidden and yet they can be enjoyed in moderation.
* As with any food, if you eat too much of it you can ruin any dieting attempt.
3. Potato chip alternatives. If one of your weaknesses is potato chips, there’s a healthy alternative that’s easy, convenient, and will give you a satisfying crunch.
When you get home from the grocery store, wash and cut up the vegetables into handy snack sizes so they’ll be easy to grab when you’re seeking a quick snack:
* Baby carrots or carrot sticks
* Celery sticks
* Broccoli
* Cauliflower
* Cucumber
* Cherry or grape tomatoes
Sometimes crunchy vegetables won’t meet your needs when you’re craving chips! You may want the salt and the crusty crunch that celery sticks just won’t satisfy.
* Whole wheat pretzels might do the trick.
* Dip your pretzel in peanut butter for additional taste and to bolster your metabolism.
4. Nuts and seeds are additional healthy snacks you can eat when you’re trying to lose weight. They’re full of nutrients your body needs, and can be great choices.
* Be careful when eating nuts and seeds, however, as they’re high in fat content and eating too many could blow your diet for the day.
5. Popcorn can be a great snack for someone trying to lose weight. The trick is to eat light popcorn or air popped popcorn rather than adding butter or other toppings to it.
Choosing healthy snacks rather than those laden with fat and calories will make losing weight much easier. When you feel like you need a snack, don’t deprive yourself. Choose wisely and you’ll feel great and still lose weight!
Everybody enjoys a good laugh, whether it’s from a sitcom on TV, a live comedy show, or because a friend made a fool of himself. When was the last time you took some time to relax and find something to laugh about? Not just any laugh, but one of those deep belly laughs that clears out your tear ducts!
If you are among the many adults who have a hard time relaxing you’ll be surprised to know that there are real health benefits to laughter. Yes, it sounds rather crazy, but your favorite sitcom can do wonders for your health!
How Can Laughter Help?
When you laugh, your body releases endorphins into the blood system. Endorphins act like natural pain killers and are also responsible for making you feel happy. The best part is endorphins are completely free of any side effects – it’s all natural! That’s why you feel a “natural high” after the right dose of laughter.
Laughing not only leads to a feeling of well being, but it can also do the following:
* Lower blood pressure – This cycle starts with the blood pressure rising when you start to laugh but then it decreases to levels below normal. When you take deep breaths while laughing, more oxygen-rich blood is transported quickly throughout your body.
* Reduce stress and increase your attentiveness, heart rate and pulse – When your heart rate and pulse is elevated, you’ll feel more energized. Of course, being more attentive can lead to better learning and growth.
* Make your heart grow stronger – For a long time now, heart specialists have established that mental stress is particularly harmful to the heart and is one of the leading causes behind the build up of fat and cholesterol in the coronary arteries. By laughing and reducing that stress on a regular basis, you’re helping your body reduce that fat buildup while reducing your risk of a heart attack.
* Lower blood sugar – Laughter helps with reducing stress and stress often leads to an increase in blood sugar levels.
Laughter as a Form of Exercise
When you throw back your head and laugh, you’re actually working your muscles from the hips to the shoulders. Since laughing involves taking in and releasing of air, the expelling of carbon dioxide and the intake of oxygen, your internal organs and core muscles get a good workout every time you laugh heartily. It may sound silly, but it’s true.
* Ever heard of “laughter yoga?” It’s a form of yoga class where you perform the regular stretches while getting silly to induce laughter. Activities range from imitating animals to speaking in gibberish. If you think this sounds odd, you’re right. It is! But we have to stop taking life so seriously and start having fun!
Improve Your Mental Health with Laughter
Everyday you’re faced with challenges and it’s completely up to you how to confront them. You can choose a positive attitude or a negative one. Laughing when faced with a challenge can help lift your mood (as well as those around you) and maybe you’ll be able to view the challenge in a positive light. This will help you reduce the stress and get things done quicker.
* Laughter is generally followed by a sense of relaxation, hence it’s a good form of stress relief.
* Use laughter as a way to reconnect with your family, especially during troubling times. When you laugh you generally talk more, make direct eye contact, and even get into closer contact.
A Laugh a Day…
Laughter has many physical benefits to your overall health and well being but you obviously still need to exercise, eat well, and go for your routine checkups. Nevertheless, there are simply many perks to laughing and it will help you enjoy the hysterical life that surrounds you!
Finding Your Passion Through the Power of Words
It happens to all of us. We reach that dead end where we simply run out of fresh ideas and we helplessly fumble for solutions that have escaped us. What can we do to get the creative juices flowing again?
One of the best strategies to resolve this dilemma is to use a brainstorming session. The basic technique is easy as 1-2-3:
1. Think of many ideas in a short period of time.
2. Jot them all down.
3. Go back and evaluate each idea’s possibilities.
These brainstorming sessions can be invaluable when trying to come up with fresh, outside the box, ideas so we can work towards an effective solution to a difficult challenge.
Here are five tips to help you make the most of your brainstorming sessions:
1. Get outside input. Instead of going at it alone, get some help. Gather a few of the most creative people you know for a group brainstorming session. After all, two (or three or four) heads are better than one. These other participants may come up with some great ideas that may never have occurred to you otherwise.
* Let people have fun brainstorming. Relaxed people generally feel more creative, so encourage your group to pace, recline in their chairs, or turn it into a game – whatever they need to do to enable the flow of ideas.
2. Write down all of your ideas. Even if you come up with some wild ideas, write them down anyway. They may be more viable than you think! Some of the greatest breakthroughs in history came from ideas that were considered as pretty outlandish at first. Write it all down and revisit it later.
* This is a time for gathering ideas, not for shooting ideas down. Avoid discouraging participants in your group because they won’t participate as freely and they might keep the perfect solution to themselves.
3. Be creative and try something different. If you can’t see a solution right away, think of the problem from a fresh perspective. Look at it from a different viewpoint and maybe a new solution will present itself. Traditional solutions don’t have to be the only way to solve problems, and getting creative may get the ball rolling towards the ideal solution!
* Many successful entrepreneurs have a talent for observing people’s wants and needs. Then they find or invent a creative new solution. Watch the world around you and don’t be afraid to experiment with new ideas or unusual solutions.
4. Try combining ideas. Whether you’re brainstorming on your own or as part of a group, you may need to mash different ideas together. Sometimes great ideas are born as twins – in the course of a brainstorming session you might come up with two halves of a perfect solution. Don’t be afraid to look at the results in an unconventional way.
* Some people have started their own businesses by combining their love of baking with their love of dogs to produce their own brand of doggie treats. It’s not a conventional pairing, but it’s one that works!
5. Ask questions. This works especially well in group brainstorming sessions. Encourage plenty of questions about everyone’s ideas. Questions can lead to a basic idea being fleshed out into a workable solution, and that, of course, is what a brainstorming session is all about!
* Ask questions, discuss, or even debate. Approaching solutions from different perspectives helps you see a larger and more accurate picture.
Acquiring problem solving skills makes our life so much easier! Use these techniques to brainstorm new ideas and solutions, and you’ll discover new fountains flowing with ideas you never knew existed! Problems can become opportunities in disguise. You just may find yourself going from zero to hero in one short brainstorming session. Try it – you’ll like it!
Have you ever heard the saying, “Think outside the box?” Of course you have! It’s a saying that has been thrown around at work and in countless self-help books. Thinking outside the box usually creates unique solutions to the most unusual of problems, but it’s not as easy as it sounds.
We are all creative, but it can be difficult to tap into the creativity within us if our minds are constrained by pressures, time, or judgment. For this reason, some of us may have difficulty thinking outside the box since it involves going outside of our snug comfort zone.
Leaving the Familiar Path
Thinking outside the box means you’re leaving the realm of familiarity by going well beyond what you have established as your boundaries. When you do this, you’ll unlock new ways of thinking and unique solutions to nagging problems. Others may look at your ideas with skepticism or disbelief, but that’s because it’s outside of their comfort zones, too! And that’s okay because you are the trailblazer.
So how do you leave that familiar path and think outside the box? You do it by expanding your comfort zone. Right now, you’re stuck in this maze of confined thinking. This is because we are all trained from a young age to think and act a certain way. In reality, there isn’t just one way to think. There really are countless ways of getting things done! This is exactly why we need to keep an open mind and remove all barriers.
You can learn how to develop the desire to be, think and act differently than everyone else, but it requires you to do things you may be uncomfortable doing. For example, speaking up in a crowd, going against common wisdom, or asking questions that no one else asks. It may feel uncomfortable at first, but it’s the only way to expand your comfort zone and see things in a new way.
Do you think that Albert Einstein or Alexander Graham Bell stuck to conventional wisdom? Of course not! They took their thinking to entirely new levels in order to discover theories and inventions that have changed the course of the world today.
The key lesson here is that if something doesn’t work, you may have to think about it from another angle. Turn the page upside down if you have to! Always remember that you can test and tweak things until it’s just right. Don’t beat yourself up if you fail because failure is necessary for significant growth and improvement.
Characteristics of Thought
There are certain characteristics associated with thinking outside the box. These characteristics include:
* Listening to and evaluating new perspectives
* Thinking about and discussing topics with substance
* Envisioning the value of wacky ideas
* Always striving to create new, improved ways to get things done
* Respecting the opinions and ideas of others
It may be a challenge to see the world in a whole new way, but it’s not impossible. You may be required to recognize a good idea and be able to act upon it immediately. You also have to know that new ideas need to be nurtured and supported in order for them to flourish. By keeping these things in mind, you are well on your way to accepting the challenge to think and grow outside the box.
Even if you love your job, there are going to be days where you are going to experience stress. Many people allow stress to get the best of them, but you don’t have to. You can learn to cope with workplace stress so you can use the stress to move you forward instead of hold you back.
A Look At Workplace Stress
When you are stressed out about your work, you may feel like you are on an island all by yourself. Of course, it isn’t the case at all. Did you know that as many as a quarter of the people you work with right now feel as though the workplace is the biggest stressor in their life? It is also thought that three quarters of employees feel as though they have more on-the-job stress than their parents ever did.
On-the-job stress is not something unique to you - everyone experiences it! Sometimes just knowing this is enough to help you get through to the other side so you can start feeling happy and healthy again.
Thankfully, there is something you can do to reduce workplace stress in your life.
Workplace Stress Solutions
Some solutions to workplace stress include:
* Letting the little things go, it probably doesn’t matter anyway
* Proactively balancing work and family life
* Creating a support network of friends and family, or even co-workers
Letting Things Go
The fact is, when you allow yourself to take a more relaxed and positive outlook on the world, it will suddenly become a lot more relaxed and positive. When you choose to have a positive approach in life, you’ll likely find that the things that would have stressed you out before will now roll off your back. It’s not that you won’t feel stress; it’s just that you will have a more positive way of interpreting things so that stress is not necessarily such a bad thing.
Finding Work-Life Balance
When work takes over our lives, that’s usually when we become stressed out at work and when we cannot cope well. You should make sure that you engage in daily activities that do not involve work, even if this is simply reading a chapter of your favorite book or picking up the phone to call a friend. When you allow your work life to consume you, stress will consume you too. In turn, you’ll become less efficient and effective at your job.
Relieve Work Stress with Quality Family Time
Make sure you spend time with your friends, family, or even your co-workers outside of work. We often allow our home to become an office away from the office. That’s no good! Make sure you have a support network of friends and family members who will remind you that there are plenty of things to do that aren’t related to your work in any way. It’s also helpful to have this support network so that when you are stressed out, you’ll have someone to turn to. Oftentimes a support system helps keep us grounded when we would otherwise be tightly wound with work-related stress.
It’s true that stress is a part of life, but that doesn’t mean it needs to consume us. Stress will come and go, but coping is something that needs to be ongoing so you can live a great life inside and outside of your professional life.
There are times when we all want to be more creative. We wish that there were something we could do to express ourselves and create something beautiful at the same time.
If you’re looking for ways to discover your creative side and release the artist within, here are a few simple activities that you can do to get the creative energy flowing.
Express Yourself
What type of personality do you have? Are you able to express that personality freely at work or with friends? If not, tackle one of these projects and let your personality shine!
* Decorate your house, or at least one room, the way you like it. It doesn’t matter what anyone else tells you, just decorate your room, your way. This will help you unleash your own self-expression.
* Dress the way you want. If tackling the house is too big of a job, then take a look at your wardrobe. Dress how you want to dress. Trust yourself and trust your instincts. You are dressing for you, not the world. Don’t worry; you can express yourself while still being professional at work.
You have to find ways in everything you do to allow creativity to flow through you. This can be as simple as the way you sign a letter, mail an envelope, the way you dress or the house that you live in.
Change Your Routine
If you’re stuck in a rut, do things that take you out of your normal routine. It doesn’t really matter how stimulating your work or home life is, when you take a moment to step out of your normal routine for some “me time,” you’ll be open to new ideas and new thoughts.
How can you step out of your normal routine?
1. Read a book that you wouldn’t usually pick up
2. Watch a movie that you wouldn’t typically choose
3. Talk to a total stranger that you think looks interesting
4. Go shopping at a store that you have never been to. You don’t necessarily have to buy anything, just go in and look around.
5. Meet a friend you haven’t seen for a long time
Pay Attention to Your Surroundings
Another simple activity to increase your creativity is to pay attention to your surroundings. You may laugh and think that is absolutely ridiculous – after all, you see the same things and people everyday, and you probably even drive the same route to and from work, too. But try to take a few moments and actually pay attention to your surroundings. See things the way they are and not the way you think they are.
* Take a different route home from work. Discover shortcuts or new neighborhoods.
* Sit on a park bench and people watch. Think of stories for each person or couple that you see.
* Have you ever really paid attention to the people in your office? What about the person that sits right across from you? Take five or ten minutes and take notice. Don’t stare, but pay attention. You just may find that other people can be quite the source of inspiration for creativity.
Use Your Imagination
If you have a favorite poem or story that you loved as a kid, sit down and start writing that story, but make the changes that you always thought should be there. What were Jack and Jill really doing on their way up the hill? If they were fetching a pail of water, what was the water for? You don’t have to re-invent the wheel, simply make the everyday your own.
Increasing your creativity starts in small, simple ways. Your life is filled with opportunities for you to test your creative energies but it’s up to you to take action!
Do you have the motivation you need to get up and face the day with a smile?
If you’re lacking motivation you’ll be happy to discover that you don’t have to go through life bored, tired, or down. You actually can manifest your motivation!
There are many things you can do to harness and use motivation in any situation and at any time. After all, being motivated will help you enjoy your life in so many ways!
How You Can Stay Motivated
Staying motivated has much to do with how much energy you have working for you. You’ll be more motivated to get things done when you’re putting your energy to good use.
* Be sure to eat a balanced diet and get enough rest; this will ensure that your energy level and your motivation are always at their peak.
Another way to stay motivated is to remember your past accomplishments. This feeling can pick you up and remind you that you are strong and fully capable. Focusing on your past successes will help you lower your head and push forward even when you don’t want to.
Ask yourself: What would life be like if you never pushed yourself to do things you don’t want to do? You would probably never take out the trash, you might never get up for work in the morning, and you probably wouldn’t even get dinner on the table. But then, what’s the point of life?
Life wouldn’t be as comfortable or enjoyable without pushing yourself through roadblocks, barriers, or uninteresting tasks. Without motivation, life can be messy, boring, or more complicated than it should be. That’s not what you want, right?
Utilizing the Power of Motivational Affirmations
You can use motivational affirmations for those days when you simply want to stay in bed with the covers over your head.
Search for motivational affirmations that speak to you. Whether you write them yourself or use others that have already been created, find statements that touch your life. Think about your goals that make you want to be a better person, and then turn these thoughts into positive statements.
* Affirmations always focus on the positive and the present so you can inspire personal growth in your life.
Affirmations are easy to use and can help keep you motivated in any situation, best of all, they are simple to use throughout your day. The key is to repeat the affirmations several times until you notice a positive change in your mood.
Examples of Motivational Affirmations
Some examples of motivating affirmations are:
* “I welcome positive energy and I use that feeling to accomplish more.”
* “I use my energy to live my life to the fullest.”
These are simple statements that encapsulate the way you would like to think or respond in difficult situations.
* Instead of talking yourself out of tackling a task, you can use affirmations to get you motivated to complete the task in record time!
Getting enough sleep, eating nutritious foods, remembering pleasant memories of past tasks completed, and using motivational affirmations can help you to get – and stay – motivated. Once you find what works for you, you’ll notice how much more you’re enjoying your life and work, so get started today!
Do you often envision yourself achieving great things, and then follow this up with a negative thought process? Do you talk yourself out of your dreams before you even begin to pursue them? If so, you need to change the way you think.
When you change your thought processes to success thinking you truly can change your life. Positive thoughts enable you to reach out and grasp the success you seek.
Affirmations and You
Wanting to succeed and being able to envision your success is a great place to start. When you can do this, you’re giving yourself permission to change your life, attain your goals, and be a success.
There will be days when it’s more difficult to think in a positive and success affirming way; during these times you can turn to a useful tool called affirmations.
Affirmations have helped a lot of people turn their thinking into positive thinking, propelling them toward their goals in a new and exciting way. Affirmations for success can help you change the way you think about everything.
If you’re honest with yourself, you may find that much of your inner dialogue, how you feel about yourself, and even the way you carry yourself are negative. This destructive thinking sets you up to fail or causes you to give up before you ever really get started.
As with anything new, creating a success mindset will take practice to give you the best results. The good news is: you can get all the practice you need with the help of success affirmations.
What Are Affirmations?
Affirmations are positive statements that activate your mind to change your life, one thought at a time. They enable you to accomplish the things you wish to achieve.
Affirmations work because each word we speak has power, the power to evoke emotions. They work because they allow you to program - or reprogram - your thought processes, replacing negative thoughts with positive ones.
For example, if you find that you’re telling yourself what you can’t do, you can replace these negative thoughts with an affirmation for success, such as, “I am capable of succeeding without feeling overwhelmed or unfulfilled.”
If that statement doesn’t quite fit you, there are many affirmations for success, such as “I am worthy of great success.” All you need to do is want to feel this way, and then every time you say these statements aloud you reaffirm them to your subconscious.
Is It Really This Easy?
Many of the most successful people in the world aren’t much different than you. The key characteristic that sets them apart, though, is that they have a success mindset.
It seems too simple to be true, but when you talk to people who’ve experienced success, you’ll find that they use statements like these to drive them toward their goals and away from negativity. Their inner dialogue is one of success and achievement.
If success came naturally to all of us, we would all be successful. Unfortunately, in this day and time, many people prefer to focus on the negative, rather than embrace success.
With affirmations, you can overcome your limiting, negative thoughts and make it second nature for you to choose success. Success can be a reality for you, so long as you believe and reaffirm your positive thoughts consistently.

If you have definite ideas about how things are or how they should be, you’ve probably had someone tell you to “keep an open mind.” Having an open mind is important to succeed in life.
Embracing, or at least considering, new ideas and technologies is vital to our personal growth.
Are you willing to consider someone else’s opinion? Can you look at facts that may seem suspect and analyze them without bias? If you’re open-minded, you can be flexible when met with new ideas. It means you can adapt to new experiences.
Being able to think critically is a vital component of being open-minded. In our quickly changing technological world, it’s important to keep an open mind in order to keep up and stay current, rather than missing out on all the new things around us.
It’s also important to be willing to change your views when you’re given new facts. This could prove crucial depending on your chosen profession. For example, as a police officer or lawyer, being willing to see things from a different perspective could help you achieve greater successes.
Here are some ways to learn how to be open-minded to new ideas:
1. Decide now that you don’t have to be right all the time. While it’s not unusual for some people to be obsessed with being right, it’s not something that’s looked favorably upon. No one can be right all the time, not even you!
* Try to be relaxed when discussing new ideas rather than having a knee-jerk reaction to be right.
2. Recognize that there are many reasons why people have certain beliefs. They may be from a different country or have different life experiences that have shaped those beliefs. Someone born at an earlier time would also see things differently than you.
3. Learn to listen carefully. Rather than jumping in with your opinion, let the other person finish speaking. Then use active, or reflective, listening to understand and clarify their ideas:
* Repeat back to them what you understood. Respectfully ask questions when you don’t understand or agree with their standpoint.
4. Look at things from a different perspective. Before deciding that a new idea doesn’t have merit, consider doing some research to understand the concept better. Consider the way the other person explained the idea and see if it makes more sense after you’ve researched it.
5. “Walk a mile” in someone else’s shoes. Spend some time volunteering in your community. This will allow you to see things from a different perspective and with certain limitations.
6. Take time to try something new. There’s no better way to open your mind to new ideas than to attempt a new task. Learning new skills or taking up a new hobby can open your mind in ways that nothing else will. Give it a try; you may be pleasantly surprised!
It’s true that being open-minded can be an advantage in many aspects of life, however, don’t be too quick to become open-minded about everything. There may be some deeply held beliefs that you don’t want to leave by the wayside in order to embrace openness. That’s okay!
While you’re learning to be open-minded to new ideas, remember that it’s fine and good to hold onto some beliefs and stand up for what you believe in.
Just because an idea is new to you doesn’t mean you must agree with it in order to be open-minded. Having an open mind will strengthen your skills to evaluate new ideas intelligently and choose truth in your life.
Do you feel as if you’re living a passionless life? Do you desire the same passion that you see in other people? It can be difficult to go through life without a true passion.
There are many things that can cause you to live a life without passion. It’s possible that an unhappy childhood stifled your dreams, or you’ve never had an opportunity to develop your aspirations. Maybe indulging in your passion makes you feel guilty. Or perhaps you don’t have time in your busy schedule to explore and enjoy the very things that could bring you joy.
* Today, you must make the commitment to pursue your passion!
Give Yourself the Freedom to Discover Passion
You’re a deserving person! You have the right and the need to feel passionate about the things that are near and dear to you.
You may not even realize what you’re missing if you never had a chance to find and develop your goals. Discover your passion and embrace it because it can lead you to a life without limits!
You can turn your passion into a career, hobby, or a way to network with people.
* Passion can improve every aspect of your life. It’s your passion that makes your life positive and fulfilling.
When first starting your quest toward your dreams, you may wonder, “What is there to be passionate about?” That’s perfectly normal. Many people start out with the same question. Even if you feel that way, it’s never too late for you to find something that fills you with an inner joy and peace. Your life begins anew when you pursue your dreams, desires, and goals.
You can gain a fresh perspective in your life when you take some time to expand your comfort zone and pursue the things that you’d never considered before. For example, if you travelled to a foreign place and met new people, you would see and experience things a whole new world that will open your eyes and mind. When you do this, you may find something that’s been missing from your life!
Passion Affirmations Can Spark Your Passion
You may be able to find your passions through the power of affirmations. When you give yourself permission to be passionate, you may suddenly find that you’re more enthusiastic about things than you previously dreaded.
* Passion affirmations are positive statements that change the way you think about life and the world around you.
Affirmations positively influence your subconscious. Passion affirmations can bring to light a wonderful new way of living that’s full of joy, abundance, and gratitude.
For example, when you get out of bed each morning, you might say to yourself, “Igniting my passion is another way of revealing how much I love myself.”
Every time you repeat this statement you’re reaffirming that thought in your mind. At the same time, you’re eliminating negative thoughts that may be holding you back.
Choose affirmations that you feel speak to you and relate to your own feelings. Repeat them several times each day and soon you’ll discover the joys of living a passionate life!
How to Be Open-Minded to New Ideas

Turn Off Your TV, Reclaim Your Time
Time management is about taking charge of oneself.
Healthy Snacks You Can Eat to Lose Weight and Feel Great
Remember when your parents used to load your plate up with veggies and not let you have any dessert until you finished every last bit?
* Celery sticks
* Broccoli
* Cauliflower
* Cucumber
* Cherry or grape tomatoes
Top 10 Powerful Words to Keep You Motivated
No matter where you are on your life journey, setbacks can cause disappointment and a loss of momentum.

The 3 Most Important Time Management Habits
How to Maintain Healthy Eating Habits
